The White House in Pripyat.

The city of Pripyat became a deaf witness of how life was divided into "before" and "after" in April 1986. Today the city has turned into an open-air museum city. Each high-rise building here has its own story, although they are not very different from each other. One of these houses is the "White House", which is located in the center of the city, at the corner of Lenin Avenue and Kurchatov Street (house 13/34). The brick building with an attached “Raduga” store is popular with tourists. This is one of the unofficial business cards, which with its central location catches the eye of thousands of visitors.

The "White House" was named so by former local residents, since it was home to civil and party leaders, as well as the leadership of the nuclear power plant, including the director of the Chernobyl NPP, Viktor Petrovich Bryukhanov. The house was considered "elite" - it was located in a prestigious part of the city, most of the windows overlooked the avenue and the central square, from here there was a view of the Energetik recreation center and the Polesie hotel, as well as an amusement park and a Ferris wheel. that the house was built of bricks, not panels, the house had an improved layout. On the roof of the house, the Soviet slogans "Glory to the Party", "Glory to Lenin" are still preserved.

Near the house, on the corner, you can take a picture against the background of a yellow telephone booth, which became the prototype in the shots during the filming of the Ukrainian television series Moths, directed by Vitaly Vorobyov, which was released in 2013 for the 27th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident.

 Today it is strictly forbidden to enter the White House since the house is in disrepair and is gradually being destroyed. Preservation of the buildings is also hindered by the constant raids of looters and vandals, which began in the late 1980s, when the city was literally taken apart piece by piece.

Under the influence of the environment, empty houses are gradually falling into disrepair. For example, brick walls in deep cracks, plaster is crumbling, water seeps into the lower floors of the building from the roof, which freezes in winter, which puts a load on the bearing supports of a high-rise building. The rest of the floors began to gradually slide out, and the window frames fell out, which could carry a part of the wall with it.
